China Calls on US to Halt Threats and Pressure during Tariff Negotiations

If the U.S. wants to reach some agreement, it should stop threatening and coerce the Chinese foreign ministry, which on Wednesday answered questions regarding comments made by Donald Trump, the U.S. President regarding possibility of lowering tariffs on China.
Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun also blamed the U.S. for still applying "extreme pressure" while attempting to negotiate a deal, arguing that was the wrong approach to dealing with China.
"This is not China's right form of dealing, and it's not a good tactic for good results," Guo noted.
Guo also emphasized that substantive development in US-China relations need to be based on respect for each other. "The US should hold talks with China on the basis of equality and mutual benefit," he stated, calling for a more balanced and constructive strategy from Washington.
